Account and data deletion

You can delete your PuppyPup account yourself, from inside the app. You do not need to write to support, and you do not need to give a reason.

This page explains where deletion is, what it removes, and what it does not.

Where deletion is in the app

  1. Open PuppyPup and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Open Account.
  4. Choose Delete account.
  5. Read the summary of what will be removed.
  6. Confirm. You will be asked to re-authenticate — with your password, or with Google or Apple, depending on how you sign in.

Re-authentication exists so that somebody who picks up an unlocked phone cannot delete your account. Support will never ask you to send a password or an identity document by e-mail.

What deletion removes

Deleting your account deletes the account itself, not just the session on your device. It removes:

  • your account record, e-mail address, display name and password hash,
  • the link between your account and Google or Apple, if you used one,
  • your sessions and refresh tokens on every device,
  • the dogs your family owns, together with their profiles and photos,
  • feeding schedules and history, grooming, preventive treatments, vaccinations, medicines, medical episodes and events, allergies, chronic conditions, weights and your notes,
  • images you uploaded, including photographs of documents, and their normalised copies,
  • access you had granted to other people, and access others had granted to you.

What happens to family and shared data

  • Dogs owned by your family are deleted with your account.
  • Dogs owned by someone else, which you only had access to, are not deleted — you simply lose access to them. Their owner keeps everything.
  • Other members of your family lose access to the dogs that were deleted, because those records no longer exist.
  • Records that another person created about a dog you own are deleted together with that dog.

If you share dogs with your family

Tell the other members before you delete your account. If the family’s dogs belong to your account, deleting it removes their records too, and there is no way to bring them back.

What happens to uploaded files

Images are deleted from storage together with the records they belong to. This includes the original upload and the normalised copy that PuppyPup generates.

If you want to keep a document, save it out of the app before you delete your account. Deleted images cannot be recovered.

When it takes effect

Deletion takes effect immediately: your sessions stop working and the records are removed from the live service.

Copies may persist for a limited time in routine infrastructure backups. No period is stated here because it has not been confirmed with the infrastructure providers yet. Backups are never used to restore a deleted account. Some records may be kept longer only where the law requires it.

Deleting the app is not deleting your account

Removing PuppyPup from your iPhone leaves your account intact

The app on your phone is only a client. If you delete it without deleting your account, your account and all of its records stay on the server. Delete the account inside the app first, then remove the app.

Google connection

When your account is deleted, PuppyPup drops the stored Google identity and its tokens, so the connection is no longer used.

You can also remove PuppyPup yourself in your Google Account, under connections to third-party apps. Doing that on its own stops you signing in with Google — it does not delete your PuppyPup account.

Apple connection

When your account is deleted, PuppyPup revokes the Apple sign-in tokens it holds and drops the stored Apple identity.

You can also remove PuppyPup yourself in iOS Settings, under your Apple Account and “Sign in with Apple”. Doing that on its own stops you signing in with Apple — it does not delete your PuppyPup account.

If deletion does not work

If you cannot reach the deletion screen — you have lost access to your sign-in method, for example — write to [email protected] from the e-mail address of the account. Describe the problem. Do not send your password, and do not send identity documents.
